C100 is a scheme started in 2015 to subsidise the cost of treatment for children at Kagando hospital. We have about 70 regular donors, topped up by one off gifts and fund-raising initiatives, and are able to send £4000 each month. This is amazing, and we are extremely grateful to everyone who contributes.
You can read in previous news items about Lorna Williams’ adventurous (and exhausting!) trip to Uganda. This has raised nearly £2000 so far for C100, which is a real boost.
We have been concerned that fewer children are being admitted to Kagando. This is partly because more Government facilities (free) are available locally, but mainly because the cost of living crisis is severe and families cannot afford treatment. The cost to the hospital of providing treatment is also rising, and we are in discussion with Jonnan (the financial controller) about reducing the flat fee charge which has gradually increased (from 35,000UGX (£7) to 96,000UGX, about £20). We would love to be able to reduce this significantly, allowing more families to access treatment for their children. This should in turn increase the number of admissions and thus the amount received from fees.
If you would like to sponsor Lorna you can do so either through Just Giving (see below) or via this website. If you use the website, please contact to let us know your donation is specifically for C100
